The nursery was established in 1938 by Jack Drake. Today it is still a small family run business, where old-fashioned production methods would be familiar to the founder.

However, as of the 2016/17 season, there will no longer be any plant sales.

Amongst the many varieties of plants produced in previous years, you would have found heathers, gentians, meconopsis, irises, primulas and many plants for the rock garden, herbaceous border, pond or woodland margins.

All the plants that we produced were allowed to grow slowly outside in production beds, where only the hardiest of plants survive (we drop to -20°C at times during our long winters).

You can also enjoy a walk through the wild and informal garden, and enjoy the varying seasonal colours.
